A rare smog-free Santiago skyline at sunset

After three days of rain, the clouds moved in time for a rare smog-free sunset. In winter, when Santiago smog is at its worst, rainy days provide the only relief from the heavy pollution. It’s interesting how something seeming so dreadful — walking through pouring rain for days — can be the cause of something so wonderful in the end.

I plan to post a whole photo gallery of the city’s skylines: at night, with smog and from the top of a well-known hill. Here’s a little preview from tonight’s beautiful moment, captured from my balcony. This picture surely proves I am one lucky girl!

A welcome break after three days of rain. The view from my apartment balcony.
