Photo Gallery: Santiago Skies
With the backdrop of the illustrious Andes mountains, Santiago truly can be a beautiful city with incredible morning hazes, colorful sunsets and nighttime lights that seem to dazzle to the end of the world. With 6 million people living in the valley, however, smog is a troubling issue that puts Santiago third on the world’s list of most polluted cities. The cold winter weather traps the pollution between the mountains for months, but a deep rain cleanses the city often. It’s fascinating to see the differences in the city’s skyline in seasons and times of day.
I’ve always loved overlooking big cities from a bird’s eye view — the angle giving unique perspective to just how large the landscape is. I’ve hiked to the top of well-known hills, skipped up the stairs to my various apartments’ rooftops and traveled to corners of the city for several special shots of Santiago’s skyline. Enjoy the view!
