Write me a letter

Break out that stationary you stashed away in the back of your junk drawer 15 years ago. Good ol’ fashioned snail mail really is the best way to reach me.

It is good to number your letters, so I know if something is missing and so I can read letters in the correct order.

My address is:
Jessica Fryman, PCV
C/O Peace Corps/The Gambia
P.O. Box 527, Serekunda
The Gambia
West Africa

For tracking purposes, write “Air mail” and “Par avion” on the envelopes too.

    Hello Jessica,
Not sure if email will reach you or better to write a letter. I’ll try a email first. Enjoying your blog especially the piece regarding how the Ebola outbreak is impacting The Gambia. My son is suppose to begin his two year peace corp assignment serving The Gambia in October of this year. Naturally, my mother instincts are at full alert and I keep asking him (almost daily) has he heard anything and if his assignment has been cancelled. I think it would be an amazing adventure for him, but of course I don’t want to see him in any danger. Your blog is a comfort and it sounds like a wonderful place. I hope If he does make it there, he is able to meet you. thanks again and keep writing!

    Hello Jessica,

My name is Hope and I’m a senior editor at World Trade Press, a publishing and digital media resources company in California. We create educational and travel websites, and are in the process of upgrading our AtoZWorldCulture product. This website offers detailed, country-by-country cultural and social information for schools and colleges.

One new section we are adding contains proverbs from around the world. We would like to provide this cultural aspect of the Gambia on our website by including proverbs in English, Mandinka, Fula, and/or Wolof (if you speak those), along with the English translation and meaning of each. We were wondering if you would be interested in compiling and writing 20 Gambian proverbs for us. In exchange, we will offer 8 cents per word, author attribution, a link directly to your blog or other website, and a free one-year subscription to AtoZWorldCulture.

Thank you for your time and your consideration of our request. Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Best,

    Hope Kang

Hello Jessica. I enjoyed your blog.

I wish to send Batik tools and supplies to a young friend in Gambia who needs urgently to earn money for himself (I can’t afford to sponsor him).

Could you give me any advise on sending things like that to Gambia?

I hope to visit soon. Perhaps i can bring tools etc with me or even purchase them over there?

    Best wishes

    Christopher May
