Holy Cow!
I woke up to roosters´ crowing before sunrise last week. I looked out my log cabin window to see clouds rolling in so thick I could touch their mist. It was time to get up. Juana the Cow needed to be milked.
It wasn´t as hard as I expected, but I surely was no pro like my milking instructor, Clever, who can milk the cow in 10 minutes. With a tight squeeze of the utters and a tug down, out pours the milk. It took me a few tugs before I got the hang of it. After Nora and I filled the bucket halfway, it was Juana´s one-month old calf´s turn for breakfast.
I think the fact that this experience was so exciting for me shows I´m definitely a city girl. And it should probably stay that way considering my skills in this particular department! So there you have it, my first and last time milking a cow.
